Review: The long and short vowels

Congratulations! You have now learnt all the vowel sounds traditionally used in Arabic script.

The table below shows that the ‘short’ and ‘long’ vowels for ‘a’, ‘o’, and ‘i’ use the same sound. The important difference comes from the pronunciation length between the ‘longer’ and ‘shorter’ vowels.

Note the ‘Short vowels with أ’ column could use other letters with the short vowels, like بَ تُ مِ etc.
